A striking limited-edition screen print poster for ‘Our Planet Is A Blue Planet’, an event held on 24th and 25th April 2008 at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Created by The Bird Machine (dot com) out of Chicago, this is a beautifully designed piece featuring a school of eagle rays rendered in muted olive-grey tones against a vivid teal/mint green background. The rays are depicted in dynamic motion, their long whip-like tails trailing behind them, capturing the fluid grace of these ocean creatures with an energetic, hand-drawn illustrative quality. The design uses a limited colour palette typical of screen printing technique, with visible ink texture and layering adding to its artisanal character. Text is set in a bold, hand-crafted letterpress-style typeface, adding to the tactile, handmade aesthetic. This is a numbered limited edition print, with this copy being number 269 from an edition of 350, and it bears a hand-written edition number and signature in pencil in the lower right margin. A collectible piece combining natural history illustration sensibility with the gig poster tradition, printed by a respected Chicago-based poster studio. An excellent example of early 21st-century screen-printed event poster art.
No visible folds, tears, or foxing from the photos. Print appears clean and well-preserved. Two small clip/pin marks visible at the very top edge from display hanging, but these are on the white border margin.
