Original limited-edition screen print concert poster for Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, produced for their run of shows at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont in late December 2007. The poster advertises three nights with supporting acts: Swale (12-28-07), Hoots & Hellmouth (12-29-07), and Lowell Thompson (12-31-07).
The design features a bold, stylised bird in flight rendered in striking red and sky blue, with intricate bare-branch detailing in white cutting across the wings and body. Where the two colours overlap, a deep crimson is created, adding visual depth. A small white cat or fox silhouette sits at the base of the bird, adding a whimsical folk-art quality. The typography is hand-drawn and playful, consistent with the indie rock poster aesthetic of the mid-2000s.
This is a numbered edition of 150, with this example being number 121, hand-noted in pencil on the lower right verso. The printer’s mark — five tally bars and a small flower/gear logo — appears at the bottom of the printed face. The two-colour (plus paper stock) screen print technique is clearly visible in the close-up detail shots. An excellent example of the gig poster art scene that flourished around independent rock venues in the 2000s.
No visible folds, tears, pinholes, or foxing evident from the photos. Poster appears clean and flat. Pencil edition number ‘121/150 to’ is present on the lower right verso.
